This Sunday, a branch of Reuth Rehabilitation Hospital will be inaugurated in the southern town of Kiryat Gat.
Today, those who need rehabilitation following trauma must travel to the center of the country or to Be’er Sheva and wait months in line. Following the opening of the Kiryat Gat rehabilitation center and soon to follow with another Reuth Center in Ashdod, the need to commute will be made redundant. This is another important step to reduce the gaps between the center and the periphery in Israel.
The new Centers will be staffed with the multi-professional staff from the Tel Aviv hospital.
At the Kiryat Gat rehabilitation Center, which will open in the heart of the town, its most popular shopping mall, rehabilitation treatments will be provided in the form of outpatient clinics and will include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nutritional and psychological counseling, geriatric counseling, alternative medicine including rehabilitative yoga and more.
Anyone who ever needed rehabilitation treatments in Israel’s periphery knows how difficult it is to get an appointment. Following the opening of this center, this problem will be resolved and all residents of Kiryat Gat and the surrounding area will be able to come and receive treatments in order to rebuild their lives and return to their routine lives.
Reuth Rehabilitation Hospital is a university hospital affiliated with the Tel Aviv University Faculty of Medicine. Reuth not only provides medical care but also deals with academic training for medical interns.
Dr. Dov Albukrek, Director General of Reuth Hospital: A stroke patient suffering from speech, motor and emotional disorders did not have access to the variety of treatments that can restore his abilities and get him back on track. We are happy to fill this gap and provide such an essential service to those who live far from the Center”.
