Beth has been involved with American Friends of Reuth for the past 10 years. It all began by attending the annual dinners followed by greater involvement with planning smaller events. When she visited Reuth for the first time, just 2 years ago, she was completely impressed with the unique philosophy of the wholistic approach to the care of each patient and their families. As a Registered Nurse with advanced training as a Nurse Coach and in Biomedical Ethics, Beth can truly see that the level of professional services are of the highest standards. She is proud to be an active board member of this invaluable institution.

The Freudenstein family has maintained a steady and strong commitment to Reuth for four generations. Charlotte Freudenstein ensured the early stages of Reuth’s development as a social service agency. This was followed by Jutta Freudenstein with her steadfast involvement and dedication to Reuth. The torch was then passed onto Michael who has served and Sharon who currently serves on the board.
Sharon has spearheaded a wide variety of events to ensure Reuth’s local presence in the metropolitan area such as chairing the annual Gala Dinner, Women in the Arts, in addition to creating the summer internship program for high school girls. Sharon and her daughter, Tamara, also curated a fashion runway show in NYC and Tel Aviv,  which was a huge success. Sharon and Michael’s daughters have all participated in these events ensuring that the youngest generation continues to be engaged with Reuth and its important work.

Marleen Litt is an Assistant Vice President at JCCA, a children & family social service agency.  Her involvement in the American Friends of Reuth began in 2011 when a friend invited her to an event to raise funds for the hospital’s rooftop in memory of her friend’s uncle. Since then Marleen has been devoted to the young leadership board and co-chaired the AFR Board from 2016 to 2019.

Riva Alper is is a graduate of Stern College with an MA in English and Education from Seton Hall University. She works as an  administrator at KJ. Riva has been involved with American Friends of Reuth as a dedicated volunteer.

Mel Atlas worked all around the world in the field of party design and party planning for over 50 years. He has a great family and many grandchildren. His life is filled with abundant joy and happiness. Together with Sue and Alan Silberstein and Edith Grodlnick, Mel donated the seed money for the therapeutic garden at the rooftop of the Reuth Rehabilitation Hospital.

Shaan is a Partner in the Financial Markets practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers with responsibilities of leading the Portfolio Valuation team and managing the private equity valuation work nationally. Shaan got involved with Reuth, when during a visit to the hospital, he met and connected with one of the patients.

Guy Franklin is the General Manager of SOSA NYC and the founder of “Israeli Mapped in NY”. SOSA, a global network of tech innovation hubs, was founded in 2013 by 25 leading Israeli investors and hi-tech entrepreneurs. Guy was recently named one of the 100 Most Influential People in Israel by The Marker Magazine and named one of the 10 Israelis making a mark on New York’s tech scene. Guy Franklin received the Future Builder Award as AFR’s honoree at the 82nd Gala Dinner. He joined our board in December 2019.

Introduced to RE’UTH Medical Center by her extended family, Regina is a member of the third generation of her family which has been ardent supporters of RE’UTH going back to a time when RE’UTH operated out of the apartment of one of its founders on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. RE’UTH Medical Center has adapted and introduced new cutting edge medical treatments for the ever changing myriad of healthcare needs of Israel’s population. For these reasons and the love and compassion RE’UTH provides to its patients, Regina has enthusiastically served on RE’UTH’s American Friends board for the past several years and looks forward to RE’UTH’s continued success.

Jill Kaufman works for Apple, Inc putting technology in schools. Jill has been involved with Reuth for over 20 years as a Young Associate and as an Executive Board member, she recently visited Reuth in Israel with her family and looks forward to her next visit.

After visiting the Reuth facilities in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem in 1992, Renee was invited to join the U.S. Board. She is proud and grateful to be associated with this amazing organization ever since.


Dinah is a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst who also teaches and writes on psychoanalytic topics.  Dinah is proud to be a third- generation supporter of Reuth and carry on the family tradition.  Her grandmother Jenny Breuer was one of the original founders in 1937 of Women’s Social Service for Israel, and her mother Ursula Merkin led American Friends of Reuth for over 25 years. Dinah most admires the range and versatility of the organization’s responses to the evolving needs of Israeli society, as well as their incomparably high standard of patient care.

Dr. Barbara Paris is Vice Chair of Medicine & the Director of the Division ofGeriatrics at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.
She is also a Clinical Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in NYC.
Dr. Paris is deeply committed to supporting Reuth’s mission .

Laura Siegel Rabinowitz is a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig. She counsels domestic and multinational businesses on complex supply chain issues and other complicated challenges associated with trade, advising on mitigation of duty exposure and compliance. Laura served as chair of American Friends of Reuth from 2016 to 2019.

Tomer serves as Chief Executive Officer of B Communications, a holding company controlling Israel’s largest telecom group, Bezeq. In the past decade, Tomer has advised telecom, media and tech companies on M&A and capital raises and has completed transactions valued at over $300bn in aggregate in the US and in Israel. Prior to joining B Communications, Tomer was a Director and a Vice President at RBC Investment Bank and at UBS Investment Bank. Tomer has an MBA with specialization in Finance and Accounting from NYU Stern School of Business, as well as an L.L.B in Law and a B.A. in Economics from Tel-Aviv University. Tomer became a board member of AFR in 2019 and is looking forward to introducing Reuth to his professional surroundings.

Keri E. Riemer is a securities attorney whose practice focuses on matters affecting mutual funds, ETFs and investment advisers. She is an avid traveler and is actively involved in various philanthropic activities, including Reuth. Although a supporter for many years, Keri became more involved with Reuth after learning about its animal therapy program. Keri graduated magna cum laude from Bowdoin College and received her J.D. from Boston College Law School.

Stephen Wagner, a founding partner of the firm, co-chairs the litigation team at Cohen, Tauber, Spievak & Wagner. A business advisor as well as litigator, Stephen approaches each case understanding that drawn-out disputes are never in a company’s business plan. He manages each case to advance a client’s business goals, and to prevent the process from overwhelming or undermining the value a business is protecting.

Michael C. Wimpfheimer is an attorney engaged in general civil practice in Manhattan.  He is a graduate of Yeshiva Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch, MTA, Columbia College and Harvard Law School. He served on active duty (and afterwards in the Reserves) in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps, and is retired as a Commander.
